TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE
The overarching purpose of this tool is not only to provide a development process, but to study the developmental journey of leaders across a wide variety of organizational contexts. This research builds upon the nearly four decades of research on leadership development. The tools and assessments contained in the wildtoolkit.com have been created for two purposes. The first purpose is to help these leaders understand their own leadership tendencies, become better leaders, and invest in the lives and development of those they lead. Secondly, the website is designed to allow investigators to conduct rigorous research on the developmental journey of leaders. If after reading this form you agree to participate in this study, you will be directed to the measures you will complete as part of this research. Below is a description of our research and the conditions for use of the site.
This is a confidential and secure process. Should you decide not to participate in the research you will have access to the site, but your responses will not be included in our analysis. See the confidentiality statement below for more information regarding data security and policies.
Purpose of the Research
The data you provide may be used in a set of studies on the developmental journey of leaders being conducted by Dr. Rob McKenna (primary research investigator), Chair of Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Seattle Pacific University, and his research team. The purpose of this investigation, based on information provided by users of these leadership assessments, is to examine the developmental journey of leaders across a wide variety of organizational contexts. You have been invited to participate in this research because of your past, current, or future experience as a person and/or a leader. As a participant in this process, while confidential, the data you provide will help us to conduct this research and help others learn from the shared story of many leaders. No more than 50,000 participants are expected to participate this year.
Some of the specific research topics include:
- Leading Under Pressure: An investigation into the strategies that allow people to lead more effectively when facing situations of high pressure and anxiety, factors associated with differentiated leadership, and the factors impacted by a leader who shows up well under pressure.
- The Impact of Calling and Purpose: An investigation into the different approaches and perspectives individuals have about calling and purpose in their life and work, and outcomes associated with a sense of calling and purpose.
- Character Development and Formation: An investigation into the formation and development of character, and the impact of developmental experiences and people on the character of a person.
- The Power of Social Networks: An investigation in the makeup and power of strong social and work networks.
- What is a Developing Leader: An investigation into the situational factors, experiences, networks, and people who surround and create a developing leader.
You will have access to a series of assessments at the WiLDToolkit.com that will each take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete depending on the survey. You may complete the assessments from your personal computer or another convenient location with computer and Internet access. The total duration of all assessments will not exceed five hours and are intended to be completed over several sessions. The surveys include questions about your: (1) calling and purpose, (2) leadership experience, (3) developmental goals, (4) ability to lead under pressure, (5) strategic network, and (6) other individuals in whom you are invested. Other survey questions will address your personality, leadership experiences, and your learning style. We also will ask for some demographic information (e.g., age, type of organization, education level) so that we can accurately understand the general traits of the individuals who participate in the study.
There is minimal to no risk or discomfort anticipated by your involvement in these studies or by your use of the WiLD Toolkit and assessments beyond those encountered in everyday life. If you feel uncomfortable with a question or topic, you can skip that question. You may also discontinue participation at any time by simply leaving this website.
Each user is responsible for keeping their username and password confidential. The user is responsible for any actions that occur under their username and password and agree to immediately notify WiLD Leaders of any unauthorized use.
Benefits of Participation
There are no direct benefits associated with participation in this study. You will be contributing to a body of knowledge concerning leadership emergence and leadership development. You may also gain a better understanding of your ability to lead, your strategic network, and developmental goals as a result of your participation in this study.
The information in the study records will be kept confidential. Data you have provided and/or will provide will be stored securely on password-protected servers and computers and will be made available only to persons conducting research studies unless you specifically give permission in writing to do otherwise. If you agree to participate in this study we will utilize data from the tools and assessments accessed from this site (wildtoolkit.com) including the assessments you have already completed. No reference will be made in oral or written reports that could link you to your responses. The data you provide is also used to generate personal feedback reports that are associated with each assessment that you alone will be able to access. In some cases, organizations utilize the different tools and assessments to develop/evaluate stakeholders and/or employees. In such instances, averages of user responses may be reported to these organizations with a requirement that the averages are comprised of data from a minimum of 15 individuals. We will retain raw data including your login information, until such time as you request that the data be destroyed or we deem there to be no further value in retaining the data.
In order to safeguard individual survey results, the online surveys contain only the survey items, and not the survey scoring programs or procedures. The database containing your responses is stored on a password protected server. It is impossible to process or score results through the website. Your de-identified data may be used in research, presentations, or for teaching purposes by the Principal Investigators listed below.
There will be no compensation for participation in this study.
The results of the study will be used for scholarly purposes and will be presented in educational settings and at professional conferences. Results may be published in professional journals in the fields of Psychology, Business, or other disciplines. Because we will ask you about a number of different aspects of your leadership development, your personality, and experiences, it is likely that we will use your data to address multiple questions regarding leadership development, emergence, and on-the-job development experiences.
Your participation is voluntary; you are free to withdraw your participation from this study at any time. To discontinue participation simply leave the website. You may also choose to skip any questions that you do not wish to answer.

Information We Collect
We collect personally identifiable information and non-personally identifiable information. We collect information anytime you visit any page on wildtoolkit.com. Our servers gather information from your browser to analyze trends, administer the site, prevent fraud, track visitors, and collect demographic information.
During registration, we ask you to tell us a bit about yourself, including your date of birth, your sex, your zip code (or your country if you live outside the U.S.), how much formal education you have received, and a few brief questions about your occupation. We use your answers to tell you how your scores on the tools compare to others who are like you in age, sex, geographic location, education, and occupation. We also use them to compute statistics for our research on how these factors impact other things related to leadership and personal development.
We also ask you, during registration, to give us your email address and a name that you would like to use. These are for your benefit. They make it easier for you to remember how to log into wildtoolkit.com. Your name will be displayed when you log in and is included in different aspects of your profile. If you do not want to share your real name, you can identify any username you prefer. We may also use your email address to send you updates on the most recent tools and processes available through wildtoolkit.com.
The system does require that you provide a real email address so that we can get you logged into the system and send you appropriate updates. To protect your privacy, if we receive a request for information about your account, the response will be sent to the email address you have registered with wildtoolkit.com, not the one making the request.
The majority of the information we collect will be your anonymous responses to the questions on this site. We will store these, along with your scores, on our database server. We will never report your individual responses or scores to others, except as described below. We will include your scores and responses in reports, publications, lectures, and websites only in summaries of groups of site users. We will not include your responses in the comparisons we provide on this site until there are at least 50 survey responses from people in the same category (e.g. geographic area, age range, occupational group, etc.).
While you are not required to complete the questions to have access to basic tools in the system, some tools will require you to finish them in order to receive the detailed feedback reports or to continue on to the next tool.
What We Share
In cases where other researchers have allowed us to use their questions on this website, we may share your responses with them for their own research. They may also receive information about your age, sex, geographic location, education, and occupation. They do not receive your name or email address and will not be able to associate you with your responses.
For the development and maintenance of wildtoolkit.com, we may contract with other organizations that require access to the data collected, solely for the purpose of assisting in the operations of wildtoolkit.com. These organizations are bound by strict confidentiality requirements.
We may also share this same information with graduate students and research partners for their own research projects. Again, no identifying information will be included.
